SIDMAN -- Laurel Highlands Conference members voted unanimously Wednesday morning to eliminate Bishop Carroll High School's athletics teams from competition beginning in the 2018-2019 season.
Somerset High School Athletic Director Scott Close confirmed to WJAC-TV 6 Sports Wednesday night the 11-0 vote reflected the conference members concerns over the school's low roster numbers in football, and inability to field a junior varsity football team.
The Huskies finished 0-10 this past season.
The LHAC plans to invite Chestnut Ridge to replace Bishop Carroll, starting with the 2018-2019 seasons. Bishop Carroll will still compete in the LHAC next season.
The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat was the first to report the conference vote. Bishop Carroll High School CEO Jerry Stephens told the Tribune-Democrat the action was unwarranted.
